LC Envirothon state bound for 4th time in six years

For the fourth time in six years, the Lynchburg-Clay High School Envirothon teams, coached by Lara Hamilton, are headed back to state.
The team of Johnny Lewis, Lyndsey Throckmorton, Grace Brownsberger and Branson Young placed second at the Area 5 Envirothon competition on Tuesday, April 26 at Boy Scout Camp Oyo in Scioto County. The all-freshman team of Kelsey Arnett, Daniel Bohl, Elizabeth Clark, Hunter Ellis and Sydney Morris placed fourth at the competition. Both teams will be competing at the Ohio Envirothon competition June 12-14 at Bowling Green State University.

The Envirothon is an environmental competition that tests teams of five students on their knowledge of aquatics, forestry, soil, wildlife and an environmental topic. This year’s environmental topic is “Invasive Species: A Challenge to the Environment, Economy, and Society.”
Besides being tested on their knowledge of these topics, teams who compete at the state competition will also have to prepare an oral presentation on the current topic.
The first-place team at the state competition advances to the North American Envirothon Competition, which will be held in Ontario, Canada in July.
