Local educator Karen Trout has published her seventh book of poetry – and her first poetry book specifically for elementary school children.

"Sowing Seeds: Nature Poems for Children," includes poems written especially for young readers.

"Teachers will appreciate a collection of poetry styles that are easily understood by their students," Trout said.

"It teaches lessons about nature but uses many beginning poem types that children are often required to read and write in grade school. A glossary of terms and poem styles is also included."

Last year, Trout published her sixth book of poetry, "One with Nature."

In addition, trout has written "Monster Moon and Other Halloween Poems," which will be of interest during the Halloween season.

Trout's books are available at the Shabby Moose and Beech Street on Main in uptown Hillsboro.
