Justice named new Lynchburg-Clay superintendent

At a Nov. 5 special board meeting, the Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education selected their next superintendent. The Board voted unanimously to select Brett Justice as Superintendent, effective Jan. 3, 2015.

In order to provide for a smooth transition, Justice will be working in the district several days between now and Jan. 2.    

Justice will succeed Dr. Shane Shope, who has served Lynchburg-Clay’s superintendent since January 2011 and has been employed by the district for 20 years.
 
Lynchburg-Clay Board President Stan Markey stated, “We are extremely excited to have Justice accept our superintendent’s position. He is well prepared for the challenges ahead, and the board knows that he is a very dedicated individual that will make a difference in the lives of our students.”

“I would like to thank the Lynchburg-Clay Local School Board for this opportunity to work with the excellent staff at Lynchburg-Clay Local Schools,” stated Justice. “I have long admired Lynchburg-Clay Local Schools for their high academic achievements and their competitive athletic programs.” 
 
Currently, Justice serves as the Assistant Superintendent for the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center near Portsmouth. Prior to that, Justice was principal and assistant principal for Northwest High School in Scioto County for four years. Prior to his service at Northwest Local Schools, Justice served as the athletic director and as a math teacher at Adams County Ohio Valley Local Schools for six years. 

Justice began his career teaching at Eastern Pike Local Schools in 1990. He obtained a bachelor's degree from Capital University in computer technology with a minor in accounting. He earned his teaching license from Bluefield State College, W.Va., in mathematics. He also has a master's degree from the University of Dayton in educational administration.

Justice lives in Peebles with his wife Bille Jo, who is a teacher at Adams County Ohio Valley Career and Technical Center. Together, they have three children, Blake, Beau and Jacey.
