Jennifer Hogue named OSBA’s new legislative director

The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) recently named Jennifer Hogue as its new director of legislative services. Hogue, who joined OSBA as a lobbyist in 2014, has extensive legislative experience and is responsible for all aspects of the association’s legislative efforts.
In addition to overseeing the OSBA legislative staff, Hogue lobbies on behalf of Ohio public education, prepares and presents testimony before the Ohio General Assembly, manages OSBA’s Federal Relations Network and develops agenda and staff recommendations for the association’s Legislative Platform Committee. She also monitors Ohio Department of Education activities and supervises Kids PAC, OSBA’s political action committee. In addition, she works with the OSBA Delegate Assembly, writes articles for association publications and conducts informational and training workshops.

“Jennifer has demonstrated a creative vision for the legislative division, and the OSBA leadership is excited about that creativity as we step up to meet the future,” OSBA Executive Director Richard Lewis said. “We are very fortunate to have such a talented individual heading up our advocacy efforts.”
Prior to joining OSBA, Hogue served as a legislative liaison at the Ohio Department of Education, worked as a legislative aide in the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate and interned in the United States Senate.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Capital University and is a graduate of River View Local’s River View High School in Coshocton County.
Hogue replaces Damon Asbury, who is serving as OSBA interim deputy executive director and plans to retire from the association after that position is filled. He served as legislative director from 2009 to 2017.
