Inaugural FAC Art Competition held at MHS

Art teacher Rachel Soards of McClain High School hosted the first Frontier Athletic Conference Art Competition Saturday, April 14.

Teachers from Miami Trace, Washington, Chillicothe, Jackson and Hillsboro dropped off an estimated 300 works of art at the MHS cafeteria Friday, April 13. National Art Honor Society students from the McClain chapter arranged the cafeteria at McClain High School to accommodate the artwork and the guests of the show.

Judges Avery Applegate, Cathy Rivas, Robin McCloud, Hannah Wills, Jane Nelson and Susan Collins Koch judged the artwork on the morning of April 14, and the show was open to the public from noon-3 p.m.

The winners are:

• Best of Show: Indica Wilson (Miami Trace).
• Reserve Best of Show: Bryton Carroll (Chillicothe).
• Honorable Mention Best of Show: Megan Downing (Washington).

Drawing:
First place: Indica Wilson (Miami Trace).
Second place: Emily Padgett (Jackson).
Third place: Anna Justice (McClain).
Honorable Mention: Megan Downing (Washington); Abby Mossbarger (McClain); Brooke Duell (Washington).

Painting:
First place: Timothy Crafton (Hillsboro).
Second place: Indica Wilson (Miami Trace).
Third place: Hannah Kessinger (Hillsboro).
Honorable Mention: Jaedynn Duell (Washington); Taylor Smith (Washington).

Sculpture:
First place: Jenna Vanmatre (Jackson).
