The Hillsboro Middle School Student HEROES of the Month of March have been announced and they are: eighth-graders Erin Chaney and Owen Jones, seventh -graders Brittney Brown and Skylar Murphy sixth-graders Hanna Breeden and Evan Burwinkel The student HEROES of the month were selected by their teachers based on their honesty, equity, respect, openness, excellence and sensitivity (HEROES), along with academics, leadership, cooperation, self-esteem and dependability.
Erin Chaney is the daughter of Angela and Scott Chaney. Her grandparents are Gary and Lois Garvie and David Chaney. She has two sisters Amber and Aidan Chaney. Her pets are a Yorkie named Maisy and two cats, Bleu and Tiny. Erin’s favorite activities are drawing and playing the French horn. Her favorite class is science and her favorite food is vegetarian tacos. Her goal for the future is to either become an artist or play music.
Owen Jones is the son of Julie Jones and Jay Jones. His grandparents are John and Alice Blair and Bill and Loree Jones. He has one sister, Alyssa Jones. He has a dog named Bear and his favorite activity is tractors. Owen’s favorite class is language arts. His favorite food is Mexican and he likes to eat at #1 China Buffet. In the future Owen would like to go to college.
Brittney Brown is the daughter of Tina Brown and Robert Brown. Her grandmother is Elizabeth Styers. She has one sister, Lauren Brown. Her pets are two cats named Shadow and Tigger. Her favorite activity is track and her favorite class is math. Brittney likes to eat at O’Charley’s and hibachi steak is her favorite food. In the future she hopes to become a teacher.
Skylar Murphy is the son of Tracy Coss and James Jones. His grandparents are Cheryl and Jim Lyle and Rocky and Gayle Coss. He has a dog named Moose and he likes to participate in wrestling, football, and track. His favorite class is history and he likes to eat Mexican food. In the future Skylar would like to become a better student.
Hanna Breeden is the daughter of Renee and Gary Breeden. Her grandmother is Joann Dehass. She has a dog named Max. Hanna says that softball, dance, basketball, and volleyball are her favorite activities. Her favorite class is math and her favorite food is pizza. In the future Hanna would like to play softball for the Women’s USA team.
Evan Burwinkel is the son of Kati and Phil Burwinkel. His grandparents are Henry and Olive Burwinkel. He has two sisters Kelli and Emily. He has a dog named Carrob.
