Hillsboro Middle School enjoys Washington, D.C. trip

One hundred and nine Hillsboro Middle School 8th-graders traveled to Washington, D.C. on April 10-12.

They took many memorable tours including the Newseum, Jefferson Memorial, Martín Luther King Memorial, FDR Memorial, White House, Smithsonian, Arlington National Cemetery, WWII, Korean, and Vietnam Memorials, Washington National Cathedral, U.S. Capital, Lincoln Memorial, Embassy Row, Museum of Crime and Punishment, and the Marine Memorial.

On the way home, they toured through Gettysburg and saw many of the battlefields.

The highlight of the trip was watching the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Four students were selected from an essay contest to present the wreath at the wreath ceremony.

The students would like to thank Mr. Randy Phipps for being their trip coordinator and Mr. Turner, Mr. Robertson, Mrs. Weiderman, Mrs. Hunter, Mr. Brady, Mr. Cropper, Mrs. Boatman, and Ms. Bennett for being the chaperones.
