Hillsboro High School has announced the following students of the month for March, with comments submitted by teachers.

• English Department: Raeden Workman. Raeden comes to class with a positive attitude every day. She participates in class discussions, is very thoughtful and gives creative answers. She is a great student to have in class.

• Math Department: Emma Wright. Emma has worked very hard all year in geometry. She turns in her work in a timely manner and listens extremely well. She is always focused on the task at hand and is a tremendous asset and example in the classroom. I very much appreciate her attentiveness and drive. Great work this year, Emma.

• Science Department: Layla Kimball. Layla is having a great year in biology. She is always super eager to participate, has gotten an A in each of the three quarters so far and is a great help to other students in our class.

• Social Studies Department: Dakota Rutherford. The turnaround in Dakota’s quiz and test grades has been amazing. Not only did Dakota pass this quarter, but he achieved a B. Because his work habits, attendance and effort have been improving, he is seeing great results.

• Intervention Department: Daniel “DJ” Villatoro. We are so very proud of DJ. He has come a long way since the beginning of the school year. He has had excellent attendance and has really improved with his decision-making skills both socially and academically. He has worked hard to get his grades up and is a pleasure to work with. Keep up the great work.

• Electives Department: Jonah Leeth. Jonah is an outstanding, dedicated and musically gifted student. He has been in Tenor/Bass and Symphonic Choir for the last four years and has also dedicated countless hours to his performances in the musical. He has taken every music class offered at this school. Even more importantly than his musical ability, he is respectful to everyone and a leader and role model to his peers.

• Agriculture/Industrial Arts Department: Dalton Fleming. I have Dalton in two welding classes. He comes to class prepared to weld every day. He works extremely hard in my classes. As a sophomore, I believe he could pass pre-qualifications in multiple welding positions. Every task I put in front of him he can complete with high accuracy.

• Student Services: Zack Brown. Zack has demonstrated exceptional initiative by actively collaborating efforts and promoting mental wellness in ways that are inclusive and impactful for all groups of students.
