On Dec. 16, the Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA chapter hosted their second annual Day of Giving. This day was put together by a small committee this year and organized by two FFA officers.

The committee consisted of Dalayna Collins, Addyston Knauff, Adalyn Gaines, Mckenna Stevens, Ann Boyd, and Claire Winkle. The Hillsboro FFA chapter decided to do things a little bit differently than last year.

Instead of making little bags for places in the community, we decided it would be better to adopt families from Community Action and buy Christmas for them. We ended up adopting two families that consisted of three kids per family.

Some of the committee members went around to small businesses in our community and got donations to help purchase these gifts.  Other funds came from The Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA chapter to purchase gifts. This day took lots of preparation leading up to Dec. 16 when the presents needed to be wrapped and delivered.

On Dec. 13, four members from the committee went shopping at our local Walmart to purchase all the gifts for these kids. These members who went shopping were Dalayna Collins, Addyston Knauff, Claire Winkle and Ann Boyd, along with our two FFA advisors.

These students put together a list and found everything that was needed to make these families happy on Christmas Day. December 16 rolled around and Mr. Cummings and Ms. teeters FFA classes were given the job to wrap the presents for the children.

By the end of the day when all of these presents were wrapped, some of the committee members delivered them to Community Action. We were so grateful we were able to do this for kids in our community and are looking forward to doing it next year.
