Hillsboro FFA students exhibit cattle at Highland County Fair

This year at the Highland County Fair, there were 14 Hillsboro FFA members who exhibited beef.
Hillary Hamilton had the Grand Champion County Born and Bred Steer, Grand Champion Steer and Reserve Champion Steer. Hamilton donated all of the proceeds from her Reserve Champion Steer to the Junior Fair. Hamilton also had first place in showmanship and was the skillathon winner for her age division. In addition, Hamilton serves as Highland County Beef Queen, and she won Outstanding Market Exhibitor for her age division.

Joe Helterbrand had the Reserve Champion County Born and Bred Steer, and Lana Grover had the Reserve Champion Rate of Gain Steer.
“I had a great first year exhibiting cattle, and it was a great learning experience,” Helterbrand said. “I will never forget this memorable experience.”
Gavin Puckett had the Champion Maine Heifer, and Emma Parry had the Reserve Champion Maintainer Heifer. Larkyn Parry was the skillathon winner for her age division, Gavin Puckett was the Reserve Intermediate Showman and Gabrielle Elmore was the Reserve Champion Senior Showman.
Members who also exhibited were Lawton Parry, Brennen Priest, Brogen Priest, Tyler Carnes, Bryce Stanley, Heather Burba and Lane Hetzel.
