Hillsboro FFA members attend National FFA Convention

On Oct. 25, the Hillsboro FFA chapter traveled to Indianapolis, Ind. to attend the 90th National FFA Convention and Expo.
The students learned about agriculture and leadership at its finest, with many great experiences that they will remember for a lifetime.

The trip kicked off with a performance by Rascal Flatts and opening act Runaway June. The convention consisted of sessions run by the National FFA officer team and three keynote speakers.
The Hillsboro FFA students had the opportunity to sit through two out of three keynote speakers. The first keynote speaker, Laila Ali, talked about the importance of following your dream no matter what it might be and what challenges you might face.
The other keynote speaker, Mike Ebeling, talked about his new technology that he invented to help others that are in need. Ebeling also shared the importance of stepping out of your way to help others.
Students also attended the Ohio State Buckeye Bash dance, where they got to mingle with other FFA members from Ohio. Members also toured Tuttle Apple Orchard and Fair Oaks Dairy Farm.
On Saturday, Oct. 28 four Hillsboro FFA graduates walked across the stage in Lucas Oil Stadium, shook National FFA President David Townsend’s hand and received their FFA American Degree. In the FFA, the American degree is the highest degree you can receive as a member. Students first had to receive their Greenhand, Chapter and State Degrees in order to achieve the honor of the American Degree.
The Hillsboro FFA would like to congratulate Chase Colliver, Lauren Grover, Jacob Helterbrand and Meredith Oglesby for their hard work, time and dedication that they put into the chapter.
