Hillsboro FFA members attend 89th State Convention

On May 4-5, the Hillsboro FFA Chapter went to Columbus for the 89th Ohio FFA State Convention.
On the first day, we went to tour the Ohio Department of Agriculture. While touring, they showed the members where they evaluate brains and store the bodies of the animals they receive. They taught the importance of keeping the meat frozen and healthy until they ship it off.

The FFA members also learned the procedures taken to go through in examining meat and making sure there aren’t any diseases. There are many close tests they have to take in order to make sure the meat is safe for human consumption.
Afterwards, the FFA chapter went and got lunch and then went to the Expo Center for the first session. It was at this session in which the members learned to transform their outlook on life and make the most out of life’s events. The keynote speaker that taught the Ohio FFA members this lesson was Amberly Snyder.
On May 5, the FFA attended three general sessions, including watching some of our own members get their state degree and the installation of the new State Officers. This moment was bittersweet, watching two of our very own former FFA members, Lauren Grover and Meredith Oglesby, retire their positions as State Officers.
