Hillsboro FFA hosts Food for America

On Tuesday, March 5, Food for America was held at The Oglesby Farm.

Ten kindergarten classes from Hillsboro were in attendance, and the entire event was organized by the members of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter.

The kindergarteners participated in a variety of activities at different stations. These included a petting zoo, dairy station, trail mix station, hay maze station, poultry station, soil station, Barnyard Olympics, tractor station, pond station and grain and animal ID.

Each station informed the students about agriculture and the importance it has in the world. For instance, at the dairy station, kids actually got to milk a dairy cow. Then, they were taught how milk is transformed into ice cream. Finally, the kids all received their own cup of ice cream.

The purpose is to educate the youth about agricultural education and FFA.

We had a great time and want to thank everyone for the continued support of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter.
