On Oct. 22, Hillsboro FFA's Equine Science and Veterinary Science classes spent the day touring Hunter Meats, a family-owned processing plant in Hillsboro, and the Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital and Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus.
On this trip, students were able to see the humane process of butchering cattle, explore a potential college and experience the largest single-breed horse show in America.
Students in the Equine Science class have spent the past weeks working on horse handling and husbandry. This process was enhanced by visiting the Quarter horse congress and viewing expert equine trainers actually doing the skills that the students have learned about in class.
