Hillsboro FFA competes in public speaking

On Feb. 7, four members of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter went to Leesburg for the subdistrict public speaking contest.

These four members included Grant Crum, Lana Grover, Loraleigh Mahan and Joe Helterbrand.

Crum participated in the extemporaneous contest. Mahan and Helterbrand participated in the creed speaking contest. Grover participated in the beginning prepared speech contest.

The participants spoke in front of a panel of judges, and they were judged upon several factors that public speakers use in delivering a speech.

These four members have taken the opportunity to become better speakers and increase their communications skills. Two of these members will be moving on to the district competition to represent Hillsboro. These two members are Lana Grover and Loraleigh Mahan.
