Hillsboro FFA chapter selling poinsettias
Lead Summary

By
Lexey Hetzel-
As the school year began, our Business Management, Ag and Environment classes had begun planting poinsettias for our annual sale.
Students in the class began by getting the greenhouse ready for the plants. They cleaned the greenhouse and put up the shade cloth to prepare for the poinsettias.

When our poinsettias came in, all Ag classes spent the day getting them planted and ready to grow for our sale in December.
“It was a great experience, getting to learn about planting and how to care for our greenhouse,” FFA member Kirsten Harp said.
On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the business class had the opportunity to take a couple poinsettias to Spectrum Analytic in Washington Courthouse for soil and tissue samples. The students got the chance to tour the building and learn about the process of soil samples. They even got to see some samples being taken and test being done.
“It was a really cool building and an interesting process to watch,” FFA member Kristin Jamieson said.
The poinsettias are now ready to be sold, so please contact an FFA member or the Ag department to purchase one.
