Hillsboro, Felicity OYCC project 2nd in state

In March, four young ladies from the Hillsboro and Felicity FFA chapters, Bryanna Buerkle, Sarah Hoog, Brittany Rhoads and Whitney Seitz, were teamed together to make a change in their communities. They have spent countless hours working on their Ohio Youth Capital Challenge project.
They presented in May with their compost pile and were determined to reduce food waste in their local community. They placed in the top three teams and moved on to state.
The four individuals presented July 30 at the Ohio State Fair and placed second in the state for their project.
The compost pile is located at the Highland County Homeless Shelter, beside the community garden that was started last year.
The four ladies received a $150 scholarship from the project.
They would like to thank each and every sponsor they have had through this process: Wilkin and Wilkin Insurance, Tissot's of Hillsboro, Kibler Lumber, Holtfield Coffee Station and several other private sponsors. The project would not have been possible without the support of our community.
