The Hillsboro Christian Academy held its kindergarten, sixth grade and eighth grade graduation ceremonies in the sanctuary of the Hillsboro First Church of the Nazarene on June 3.

The auditorium was filled with a group of proud families and friends, said HCA Principal Connie Sears.

The kindergarten class entertained the audience with songs, poems and nursery rhymes.

Kya and Judlanda Resor represented the sixth-grade class with a musical rendition of “Amazing Grace,” and Madison Garrett delivered a speech on behalf of the class.

The eighth-grade graduates sang “By Your Side.” Casey Fife, the class valedictorian, delivered the valedictory speech.

Molly Jones concluded the commencement program with a solo presentation.

Principal Sears and the respective  teachers for each class issued diplomas to five kindergartners, 11 sixth-graders and eight eighth-graders.

Other individual students were given special recognition awards for exemplary behavior, academic achievement and community service.

Board member David McCollum dismissed the ceremony with a prayer, as guests and graduates proceeded to the church’s annex for refreshments.

Hillsboro Christian Academy, an independent, chartered, non-public school for K-12, is currently using a portion of Hillsboro First Church of the Nazarene’s facility. The church has given the school permission to move in some modular buildings to house the entire school for the next couple of years.

The entire school will now be located on one campus (8230 U.S. 50) for the next school year. Enrollment is still open for all grades.
