Highland SWCD conservation poster contest winners announced

Students from all of the Highland County Middle Schools were given an opportunity to design a poster with the theme “Pollinators Are Important – Morning, Noon and Night.”

The posters were created on paper grocery bags donated by Hillsboro Kroger.

The top three poster winners from each school district received a Highland SWCD cinch bag donated by the Highland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).

Each of the top school posters were then judged for the overall top four county poster winners, which will receive cash awards during the Highland SWCD’s Annual Meeting Oct. 15, located at the Highland County Training & Employment Center (Hi-TEC) in Hillsboro.

The County poster cash awards are sponsored by the Highland County Farm Bureau.

The 2015 County Conservation Poster contest winners are: first place, Bryan O’Cull from Bright Local; second place, KayLee Adams from Lynchburg-Clay; third place, Paige Flowers, also from Lynchburg-Clay; and fourth place, Alyson Murphy from Greenfield.
