Highland SWCD announces Conservation Poster Contest winners

The Highland Soil and Water Conservation District has announced the winners of their annual County Conservation Poster Contest.
Students from all of the Highland County middle schools were given an opportunity to design a poster with the theme “Watersheds: Our Water, Our Home.” The posters were created on paper grocery bags donated by Hillsboro Kroger.
The top three poster winners from each school received a Highland SWCD cinch bag donated by the Highland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).

Each of the top school posters were then judged for the overall top five county poster winners, which will receive cash awards during the Highland SWCD’s 76th Annual Meeting on Oct. 18, located at the Ponderosa Banquet Center in Hillsboro. The county poster cash awards are sponsored by the Highland County Farm Bureau.
The 2018 County Conservation Poster contest winners are: first place, Americo Brioli from Lynchburg-Clay; second place, Chelsea Winters from Hillsboro; third place, Solomon Combs from Bright Local; fourth place, Abbie Lovett from Greenfield; and fifth place, Hannah Hamilton from Fairfield.
