Highland County Junior Poultry Team excels at state fair

The Highland County Junior Poultry Team turned in an outstanding performance at the Ohio State Fair contest held Aug. 9, bringing home top honors and representing the county with pride.

Cole Lumen, a member of the Premier Showmen 4-H Club, led the way with a stellar showing, earning first place in Oral Reasons for Past Production Hens in the Junior division. His accomplishment highlights both his deep poultry knowledge and his ability to clearly explain and defend his judging decisions.

The entire Highland County Junior Team also excelled, securing second Overall Junior Team in the competition. This achievement reflects the dedication, skill, and countless hours of preparation put in by all team members.

The Ohio State Fair poultry contest brings together top youth competitors from across the state to demonstrate their judging skills, knowledge of poultry breeds, and communication abilities. Highland County’s impressive results are a testament to the hard work of the 4-H and FFA members, their coaches, and supportive families.

Congratulations to Cole and the Highland County Junior Poultry Team for making their community proud at the state level.
