HHS FFA competes in public speaking

Public Speaking is a contest in which FFA members can learn how to speak in front of an audience, and become comfortable with their surroundings.

This contest has helped many FFA members become more open with with others and more involved in the community.

In the Creed speaking contest, Hillsboro FFA had Morgan Kelly place second at subdistricts, which moved her on to districts. We also had Lana Grover, Attie Johnson, and Kirsten Harp paricipate in the subdistrict contest.

In the Extemporaneous speaking contest, Hillsboro had Kaleb Harp participate, where he placed third at subdistricts.

In Advance Prepared speaking, Meredith Oglesby participated, and placed second at subdistricts, which moved her on to districts, where she placed second again. Meredith then moved on to the state competition on March 5. She placed fifth in the state with her speech on Farm to Fork, or Farm to Landfill.

Public speaking is one of the many CDEs that our members will carry on with them throughout life.
