On May 3-4 at the 2012 Ohio FFA Convention, A.J. Helterbrand of the Hillsboro FFA completed his year term as the District 9 President for the Ohio FFA Association.
A.J. is the son of Tim and Sherri Helterbrand of Hillsboro.
A.J. is a 2011 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He was elected at the State FFA Convention in May of 2011. He began his year of service with training sessions in Columbus where the Ohio FFA Officers met to get to know the other team members, learn about their duties and responsibilities, and plan and set goals for the past year.
A.J. and the others spent the summer attending all of the FFA Camp Muskingum sessions.
During the fall, A.J. presented chapter workshops, Greenhand speeches, and conducted numerous fall camps. He served as delegate to the National FFA Convention in October. In January, A.J. along with the other state officers began plans for the state convention and the officers attended chapter meetings, activities and banquets.
Banquets and convention preparation consumed the past three months. On May 3-4, A.J.’s year of service to the Ohio FFA Association culminated at the Ohio FFA State Convention.
He will be working this summer at Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum as a member of the camp staff. He will continue his studies next year at The Ohio State University where he majors in agricultural education.
