In early June, friends and family of Hillsboro Christian Academy (HCA) students gathered in the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene sanctuary for two special events. First was graduation, the culmination of the academic year, and second, the first annual National Honor Society (NHS) induction.

After opening remarks by the principal, Mrs. Sears, salutes to the American and Christian flags, a guitar rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" by student William Cassner and an opening prayer, Mrs. Yeomans' kindergarten class entertained the group with a humorous rendition of "The Three Little Pigs."

Following this, some special awards were handed out to various students. Mrs. Kirby Ellison, National Honor Society advisor and HCA School Board member, along with staff and another board member, led the first NHS
induction ceremony. Inductees included Jacob Ellison, Casey Fife, Bailee Harmon, Scarlett Keith and Devin McCollum.

Amber Lawhorn then presented her valedictory address. Kindergarten and eighth graders were then presented to Mrs. Sears, principal, and Mr. Brian Cassner, HCA Board president, as candidates for graduation from their respective grades. They walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.

Graduation is always a special occasion, and in honor of the occasion, a reception was held in the church annex following the ceremony.

Hillsboro Christian Academy is a chartered school recognized by the state of Ohio. At the present time, enrollment for the 2012-13 school year is still open, and applications are being accepted for grades kindergarten through 12th.
