Greenfield Elementary back to school information

Greenfield Elementary School is pleased to welcome and expand our very experienced and exceptional staff back for another year.

We will welcome parents and community members to our open house and cookout on Wednesday, Aug. 11 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Please visit classrooms, meet the staff and enjoy the camaraderie of the Greenfield Elementary School community.

Class lists and supply lists are posted on the front doors of the General Duncan McArthur building. Also check our website at http://greenfield.k12.oh.us and click on Greenfield Elementary to find your child’s classroom assignment and needed supplies. Careful consideration was made in classroom assignments to ensure each child has a productive and successful school year. At this time, there will be no changes made to our class lists.

Greenfield Elementary will again offer a preschool program coordinated by Heather Dratwa, Director of Special Programs. Call the special programs office (981-4856) if you have a child ages 3-5 and are interested in learning more about this exciting program for our youngest learners.

We will also provide before and after school care beginning at 6 a.m. and ending each evening at 6 p.m. For information on this wonderful program, contact our school office or Ms. Beth Penwell at extension 31060.

Parents and community members are always welcome at Greenfield Elementary. Volunteers may work with individual students, help prepare materials for instruction, share special talents and skills or perform other duties to enhance our school program. Children who have parents or interested adults involved in school usually become successful students. Please contact the school office if you are interested in participating as a volunteer. Greenfield Elementary requires background checks for volunteers. Please call our office for details.

Parents are the most important people in a child's education. It is vital to have positive parent participation for children to receive the maximum learning experience in school. The more involved parents and community members are in education, the greater the success for students.

We are proud to have our veteran staff members return, along with many teachers new to “The World’s Greatest School.” Our new staff members for the coming year include Mallorey Wells, preschool; Kellie McGlone, fourth grade; and Bev Lyons, intervention teacher.

Familiar faces in new assignments are Marcia Starkey, kindergarten; Amber Iseman, first grade; and Lindsay McNeal, third grade. At the district level, we have a new Director of Instruction, Deanne Link and school nurse, Katie Pryor. We are extremely pleased and excited to have these additions join our family here at Greenfield Elementary School.

Our mission statement is "Greenfield Elementary believes that an excellent attitude, along with hard work, will result in successful learning." The staff is dedicated to creating a learning environment that meets the individual needs of all our students. Our teachers are well versed in the Ohio Academic Content Standards and the new Common Core Standards. Teachers are trained to provide learning experiences that meet the needs of all learners. We offer opportunities for students to not only learn academic skills, but become well-rounded, responsible and self-disciplined citizens. We look forward to serving the children in the Greenfield community.
