McClain H.S. Journalism Student
Each year, several new teachers begin working at McClain High School, and each new teacher brings excitement to the students. Garrett Blair is one of three new teachers, and he joins the history department at MHS.
Blair has a BA Integrated Social Sciences degree from Shawnee State University, with a licensure in education grades 7-12. He is from Richmond Dale near Chillicothe and graduated high school from Southeastern. Outside of school, Blair said his hobbies are coaching football, as well as bass fishing.
“I really want to help make the world a better place," Blair said, when asked what made him want to become a teacher. "I believe teaching gives me the best opportunity to do so, (by helping) young people become elite versions of themselves."
He said his favorite part of teaching is getting to know his students.
Blair decided to come work at McClain after he spoke to some current staff members. He said that he got a "good vibe from McClain," and it was a place that embodied his vision for what high school education should be like.
“I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work in such a place,” he said. “It’s a ‘school on the rise’ and a great place with a great community.”
