French 2 students march through HHS

On Friday, Oct. 29, Mrs. Shull’s 7th and 8th period French 2 class marched down the halls to several of the classrooms at Hillsboro High School and played the French National Anthem, called "La Marseillaise." The students donned their berets, and many of the band students pulled out their instruments, a combination of a snare drum, two saxophones, a flute and a tuba, to provide HHS students with a unique cultural experience.

"La Marseillaise" is a song of war, in contrast to our praising hymn called "The Star-Spangled Banner." "La Marseillaise" is a call to arms for all citizens, written during the French Revolution. The music is up-tempo, in great contrast to our slow, respectful anthem.
