Forty-one complete Southern State's nursing programs

Forty-one nursing students were honored during a special recognition ceremony held Dec. 12 on the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.

Twenty students were recognized for completion of the college’s certificate program in practical nursing, while twenty-one graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing.

The practical nursing program at Southern State is a certificate program combining lecture classes, lab practice and clinical experience designed to prepare the graduate to be eligible to complete the licensure examination (NCLEX-PN) to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Upon completion of the first-year Practical Nursing Program, students can choose to test for licensure and begin work as an LPN, or stay at Southern State and complete the second-year Associate Degree Program.

Southern State’s nursing program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc., and has full approval of the Ohio Board of Nursing.
