Recent Fairfield High School graduates Paige Wolfe and Brayden Grooms were crowned prom queen and king during the recent “Prom in the Park,” with the prom king “escorting” his girlfriend to the event in unique circumstances.
According to Natalie Wolfe, her daughter, Paige, was disappointed that her boyfriend, Brayden, could not attend their senior prom. The event was postponed until Aug. 7 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Brayden is currently at boot camp for the U.S. Army.
“I was already heartbroken myself from all of her tears of missing him,” Wolfe said. “I needed her to smile.”
She surprised her daughter by ordering a giant cutout of Brayden’s face from Chad Abbott Signs in Hillsboro, so Paige could still walk with, and be photographed with, Brayden during the grand march Friday evening.
“A smile grew on her face knowing that he could be there in spirit,” Wolfe said.
Later in the evening, Paige was surprised again when she and Brayden were announced as the prom queen and king.
“Tears ran down her face once again, but this time with happiness,” Wolfe said. “Life may be a little different right now, but always cherish the real good, feel-good moments.”
