On Sunday, April 3, Fairfield High School sophomore Teigan Thackston was honored at the Ohio Athenaeum as being the artist of one of the Top 300 artworks shown in the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition.
The Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition is the largest art show in the state of Ohio for high school students. This year, there were 11,500 pieces entered across the state.
The regional judging took place on Saturday, March 4. There are 15 regional sites, and currently Fairfield shows at Amanda Clearcreek.

At the regional level, Fairfield had five artists and seven pieces of artwork selected to compete at the state level against 2,500 artworks from across the state. Those artist include Teigan Thackston, two artworks; Hannah Putnam, two artworks; Caitlyn Melson, one artwork; Emily Williams, one artwork; and Hannah Purdin, one artwork.
The state show is held at Hilliard Davidson High School. From those pieces, 300 are selected to be displayed at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus. The exhibition is open to the public 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The exhibit runs from Monday, April 23 through Thursday, May 18.
