Fairfield FFA members participate in state CDEs

Lead Summary
By
Grace Matthews-
Fairfield FFA is excited to announce that we have two members of the chapter moving on to state level in their CDEs.

A CDE [Career Development Event] is an agricultural contest that FFA members participate in to learn about and practice agricultural experiences.

Sydney Sanders, a junior at Fairfield Local, placed second in the General Livestock Judging contest.

“My favorite part of livestock judging is getting the opportunity to better my livestock evaluation abilities so that I can apply them to selecting my own livestock for my own herd,” Sanders said. “Also, I enjoy getting the opportunity to compete in a CDE where I meet other individuals who share my interests.”

Another member moving on to a state-level CDE is Carson Shoemaker, a sophomore at Fairfield. Shoemaker’s CDE is Ag Mechanics Skills.

“In this CDE I have to identify tools and parts and tell what they are used for. Also you have to use some of the tools,” Shoemaker says. “I would have to say my favorite part is the welding part of the CDE.”

Our chapter and community wish these FFA members luck as they go on to the next level of their CDEs.?
