Elmore, Mahan earn state FFA degrees

On Thursday, May 4 and Friday, May 5, 35 members of the Hillsboro FFA chapter attended state convention in Columbus.
On Friday evening during the fifth session, two Hillsboro FFA members, Lizzy Mahan and Ellie Elmore, walked across stage to receive their state degrees.

To receive your state degree, there are eight requirements you must complete. The students receiving the degree must have previously received their chapter degree and be an active in the chapter for two or more years with an SAE (supervised agriculture experience). They must earn and invest $1,000 or work 300 hours. They must demonstrate leadership and have a satisfactory scholastic record. They must also assisting the chapter in planning an activity and participate in five activities above the chapter level, along with 25 hours of community service hours.
Mahan is a senior at Hillsboro and a member in the Hillsboro FFA for four years. Her SAE included her caring for and showing market lambs each year.
Elmore is a junior at Hillsboro and a three-year member, with market beef cattle as her SAE.
