Looking for an evening of good food and family friendly entertainment?
Hillsboro Christian Academy will be presenting a dinner theater
program, “Christmas at Uncle Phil’s Diner: No Room at the Diner,” Dec. 18-19 at 6 p.m.
Co-directed by instructor Leone Bihl and school principal Connie Sears, “Christmas at Uncle Phil’s Diner” stars Brian Cassner as Uncle Phil and freshmen Ellen Cluxton as the head waitress and Jacob Ellison as PJ the DJ. Students from sister school Highland County Christian School, a post-secondary student who attends both the academy and Southern State Community College, and teachers and parents of students from the Academy and Christian School are also acting and helping with the production.
According to Mrs. Bihl, the community has been very supportive of the Academy’s production thus far.
The play, which takes place in the 1950s, is a “nostalgic” show about reflecting on childhood memories, Mrs. Bihl said. She added that the Christmas-themed program is both “humorous and inspirational.”
“It should be a great evening,” she said.
Mrs. Bihl said that the dinner theater program will be interactive, so audiences should be prepared to get involved with the play. Audiences are invited to dress in poodle skirts, leather jackets, or other apparel from the 1950s to fit in with the show’s era.
The menu for the program is hamburgers and cheeseburgers, baked beans, french fries, coleslaw, desserts, coffee, and punch.
Hillsboro Christian Academy is a nondenominational religious school open to students of all faiths in seventh through 12th grades.
Tickets to the show cost $10 and two cans per person, as the school is currently working on a canned food drive. Tickets can be purchased from any of the cast members or from anyone involved with the academy. To purchase a ticket, please call the school at (937) 393-8422.
“Christmas at Uncle Phil’s Diner” will be presented two nights, Dec. 18-19, at 6 p.m. each evening. The program will be held at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene Annex (the building behind the church), located at 8230 U.S. 50 east.[[In-content Ad]]
