“A Chorus Line,” winner of nine Tony Awards and the 1976 Pulitzer Prize, will be on stage at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7.

The play is the celebration of the unsung heroes of musical theater – the chorus dancers. These valiant, over-dedicated, underpaid, highly trained performers back up the stars and make them look even more talented.

At the audition for an upcoming Broadway production, the director puts 17 dancers through their paces. With every dancer desperate for work, he tells them he is looking for a strong dancing chorus of only four boys and four girls. They introduce themselves and we discover their personalities through song and dance.

Songs like “What I Did For Love,” “Dance Ten, Looks Three” and the finale “One” illustrate the real life in the theater.

Tickets are $48 and $50 with discounts for seniors and students and may be purchased at the McKinley Box Office in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts at Shawnee State University from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, online at Ticketmaster.com or any Ticketmaster Outlet, or by calling 740-351-3600.
