SSU artists contribute work to raise money for trip

Art faculty and students are preparing for another Silent Art Auction at Shawnee State University in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts from Friday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 22.

A collection of oils, watercolors, photography, digital art and ceramics will be on display in the hallways of the Vern Riffe Center with a bid sheet on each piece available for bidders. The public is invited to visit the Center and bid on favorite pieces of art at great prices.

All the art has been donated for the students to take an educational art history trip to Spain and France. Students will be leaving Feb. 27 with Isabel Graziani, associate professor of Fine, Digital and Performing Arts.

“Our first stop will be Madrid to see its fantastic architecture, the beautiful fountains and churches, the Plaza de Mayor and museums like the Prado, considered to be the best art gallery of the world,” Graziani said. “Then off to France for more fantastic art and architecture and of course, the Louvre.”

The public is invited to the Center to check out the art and place bids. The Vern Riffe Center is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and during events at the Center.
