Activities, like the flowers outside, will be blooming at the Leesburg Library during the month of May. We hope you can join us on Wednesday, May 5 as we celebrate Cinco de Mayo. After you visit with us, you can help yourself to some nacho chips and dip as our way to say “gracias” for your continued support.
Our Knit Together group continues to meet every Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. New knitters are always welcome. Awesome Book Club for 5th and 6th graders meets on Monday, May 10 at 4 p.m. We will be discussing When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead. Copies of the book are available at the front desk. This will be our last meeting for the current school year. Join Mrs. Reno for an afternoon snack and for some fun discussion and activities related to the book.
Dawna Jo Kiesling from the Highland County Extension Office will be visiting us on Tuesday, May 11 from 3-5 p.m. and Monday, May 17 from 12-2 PM with hints on how to save money at the grocery store. Stop by to chat and get some great recipes from her.
Sparx, our teen book group, will meet on Thursday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m. Books being read during the months of May and June are: The Devouring by Simon Holt, Shock Point by April Henry, The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke and Samurai Shortstop by Alan Gratz. Copies of these titles are available at the front desk. Join us for pizza & pop and help us plan how we will be celebrating summer reading. You can look us up on Facebook under the name Sparx Reader!
RRRR, our adult book group, will be having an outing at Moyer’s Restaurant for their May 20 meeting. Reservations are for 11:30 a.m. If you prefer to carpool, the staff has details available at the front desk.
It’s Summer Reading Time again and we want you to Make a Splash! at our library this year. We hope all kids, teens and adults will join us on Saturday, May 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our Kick-Off Cook Out. Come in and sign up for the program for your age group and have lunch on us! We’ll have hot dogs and other treats for patrons of all ages. While you’re eating your lunch, you can read about all the wet and wild programs, contests and prizes we will have for you throughout the summer (did someone say reptiles and amphibians?). If you can’t join us on May 22, you can still sign up for the reading program throughout the summer.
Children’s story times continue on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. for Wee Ones (6-36 months) and 10:30 a.m. for Tater Tots (3-5 years). Themes for May include: Mother Goose/Mother’s Day, Let’s Go Fly a Kite, and Summer Reading Fun. Call or stop by for more details.
We will be closed on Monday, May 31 in honor of Memorial Day and our veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Please feel free to use the outdoor book drop to return items.
We are all looking forward to you visiting with us in May. We hope you will be as excited as we are to embark on another summer reading adventure. Join us as we ride the waves together for lots of summertime fun!
