Chatfield student wins National FFA Organization recognition

Chatfield student Dustin Fussnecker beat out more than 500,000 participants to receive fourth place in the FFA Organization’s Agricultural Sales Entrepreneurship competition for high agricultural sales with his self-made company Fussnecker and Son’s Tractor Sales.

The competition requires an application, past business reports and a future business plan. Fussnecker and Son’s saw record growth as a result of the completion. Nineteen-year-old Fussnecker developed the idea to build a sales company in 2008 to contribute not only to his family, but the community as a whole.

“I created the company and brought my dad and brother in to make it more of a family business. I hope to continue to run and operate the business and contribute to the local community,” says Fussnecker.
This is the second year Fussnecker placed in the national competition (last year he placed second), and he attributes much of his success to his time at Chatfield.

“At Chatfield, I gained the knowledge I possess to be able to succeed in the FFA competition and be able to compete against the best of the best,” says Fussnecker.
The Russellville-based company specializes in the sales of new and used tractors, as well as Gravely Lawn Mowers. Fussnecker’s father acted as the prime investor to develop a contract deal with Gravely Lawn Mowers. The family plans to continue to grow the business, while still expanding its main focus of farming.
