Chatfield College’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s Beta Omicron Eta chapter has been named a 2022 REACH Rewards chapter by the national Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
The REACH program recognizes and rewards Phi Theta Kappa chapters excelling in membership development. Specific chapters earn REACH status if they meet or exceed a 15 percent membership acceptance rate. For achieving REACH Rewards status, Chatfield College will receive nine PTK graduation stoles to be distributed to chapter officers or members and worn at graduation.
Nationally, nearly 100,000 students are inducted into Phi Theta Kappa each year. To be eligible for membership, a student must complete a minimum of 12 hours of associate degree course work and generally earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. In addition, students must maintain a high academic standing throughout their enrollment in the two-year college.
“It is very impressive amongst our Chatfield student body that we have achieved the REACH award for membership. The growth of the Beta Omicron Eta chapter shows just how dedicated our students are to their studies, community, and school culture,” said George TenEyck, Chapter Advisor and Coordinator of Student Success. “In a year in which disruptions to the learning environment could have set students back, they proved they are committed to excelling in academics.”
Ninety-one percent of Phi Theta Kappa members will complete an associate degree or transfer to a four-year college, compared to just 31 percent of students nationally. In addition, members have access to millions of dollars in scholarships — $1 million in competitive scholarships through the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation and more than $246 million in transfer scholarships to over 850 four-year colleges.
Chatfield College is an open-enrollment Catholic college, rooted in the legacy of the Ursulines of Brown County, believing in the potential of every person, and accepting people of all faiths. The college offers a small collaborative learning environment with a deep sense of community and personalized support. Chatfield meets students where they are and empowers individuals to better themselves, their employability and their futures. Visit www.chatfield.edu to learn more.
