Chatfield College holds 43rd commencement exercises

Chatfield College in St. Martin and Cincinnati, Ohio, held its 43rd commencement exercises on Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m., honoring the largest graduating class in the college’s history. 

The ceremony was held in the Sacred Heart Chapel on the St. Martin Campus in northern Brown County. It honored 64 students from both the St. Martin and Cincinnati campuses who either completed the requirements for graduation or will complete the requirements during the summer session.

Highland County graduates who received Associate Degrees were James Goble (of Hillsboro); Stacey Coder (in absentia) and Nickole Pavey (of Leesburg); and Emily Myers, Destiny Ashley, Lori Barr and Valerie Stewart (of Lynchburg).

James Levi Goble was presented with the first Julia Chatfield Distinguished Student Award. This award is designed to recognize a graduate based on nominations submitted by Chatfield faculty and staff. Besides a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, students who receive this award must exhibit the determination of Julia Chatfield by turning obstacles into opportunities, be friendly, inclusive and supportive in dealing with others and display leadership qualities.

Reverend Reynaldo Taylor, pastor of St. Joseph Church in Cincinnati’s West End gave the commencement address and Douglas Link received the Dean Agatha Fitzgerald,OSU Excellence in Teaching Award.

Chatfield College is a private, Catholic, liberal arts college offering the Associate of Arts degree in St. Martin and Cincinnati. Chatfield is an open enrollment college and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
