The 2017 Cassner Foundation Scholarship winners have been announced.
The Cassner Foundation Scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Alvin B. Cassner.
Six $3,500 a year scholarships are awarded annually to Highland County high school seniors. Scholarships are renewable for a four-year period upon evidence that a 2.0 average is maintained.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, personal qualifications and stated goals and objectives.
The final applicants are interviewed by a three-person screening committee before the committee awards the scholarships.
Students can receive information about the scholarship from their school counselor.
The following six students have been awarded Cassner Scholarships.
• Spencer Brown, the son of Charles Brown and Kathryn Hapner, of Hillsboro, is graduating from Hillsboro High School. He plans to attend the University of Notre Dame and major in business administration.
• Margaret Carr, the daughter of Jim and Kim Carr, of Hillsboro, is graduating from Whiteoak High School. She plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University and major in occupational therapy.
• Shelby Marshall, the daughter of Mark Marshall and Diane (Barry) Custis, of New Vienna, is graduating from Lynchburg-Clay High School. She plans to attend Earlham College and major in pre-medicine.
• Jacob Moore, the son of David and Shannon Moore, of Greenfield, is graduating from McClain High School. He plans to attend Wright State University and major in electrical engineering.
• Kayla Purdin, the daughter of Kristi Franz, of Hillsboro, is graduating from Hillsboro High School. She plans to attend Ohio State University and major in finance.
• William Walker, the son of Josh Walker and Amy Magulac Boeckmann, of Hillsboro, graduated from Fairfield Local High School. He plans to attend Ohio University and major in engineering.
