On Tuesday, May 17th, 6th graders from Bright Elementary will be passing out free energy-saving items at the Senior Expo Thanks to the Learn and Serve program at Bright Local, the 6th graders will be spreading the word about how to make your homes more energy efficient. You can learn how to reduce the amount of money that you spend lighting and insulating your home. You can learn how to best heat your water.

The students will teach you how to manage your heating and cooling systems. And you can learn how to check your appliances to make them as energy efficient as possible. The take home kits include: 4 Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs, Outlet/Switch plates, Draft Stoppers, Water Heater Temperature Gauge, Thermostat Gauge, LED Night Light, Weather Stripping, Door Sweep, Low-flow Showerhead, Flow Meter Bag, Refrigerator Thermometer, and Furnace Filter Whistle.

The 6th graders have learned about being more energy conscientious throughout this school year. They have installed the items from these kits in their own homes and now through the generosity of Bright’s Learn and Serve program, the kids are excited to bring these wonderful energy-saving kits to the Seniors of Highland County. The Senior Expo takes place at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center and it will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We hope to see you there!!
