Blanchester High School presents 'Willy Wonka'

On April 7-8, Blanchester High School performed "Willy Wonka," a musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
The performance was directed by Ms. Fille, Mr. Wood, Mrs. Holtkamp and Ms. Landrum.
The cast and crew were made up of students of Blanchester High School ranging from ninth-12th grade.
The students of Blanchester High School aptly performed the musical. In front of a packed house on Saturday night, the cast of the musical sang of candied confections and the dream of catching a glimpse of the mysterious Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.
Willy Wonka (Brady Fields) was the performance's narrator. Charlie Bucket (Alexis Sutherland), the musical's protagonist, goes from living a meager life to becoming the heir to the Wonka dynasty, after winning the fifth and final ticket to attend a tour of the Wonka factory.
Charlie visits the factory with Grandpa Joe (Alex Bergen). The other four winners (Nathan Mullins, Annie Allen, Maddi Morlan, and Riley Fisher) did not fair so well throughout the tour.
During the intermission of the performance, the Candy Man (JJ Schirmer) appeared from backstage to provide the crowd with delectable delights. The audience lined up to get a taste of the "Wonka bars" being sold by the Candy Man. The Candy Man sold out quickly.
Unbeknownst to the audience at the time, one lucky member of the audience became the sixth golden ticket winner. After the performance, the sixth golden ticket winner was awarded with a gift card.
The crew of the performance built a set that brought the musical to life. The audience could just imagine themselves being in the Wonka factory. Candies of all shapes, sizes and colors surrounded the cast members on stage.
Principal Rick Hosler, Vice-Principal Pandy McCarty and the teachers and parents of the students in the performance were appreciative of their efforts.
