The Hillsboro High School Visual Arts Department announced that four art students and five pieces of art have been selected for state judging at the Ohio Youth Governor's Art Exhibit in Columbus.

These outstanding student artists are: senior Nyssa Reno, junior Madalyn Ross (two pieces), senior Miriam Snavely and senior Aubree Vance. All four students are enrolled in the A.P. Art & Design Course at HHS.

The pieces of art chosen for judging at the state competition are:

• “All of Me,” laser etched mirrored glass, 11x14, by Ross;

• “The Death of Innocence,” mixed media on paper, 8x12 triptych (series of 3), by Reno;

• “Nobody is Perfect,” scratch paper, 14x16, by Snavely;

• “Still Life #1,” oil on canvas, 9x14, by Vance; and

• “WA Longhorns” digital photograph, 8x10, by Ross.

This competition begins for Hillsboro art students in Southwest Ohio/Cincinnati Region 14 hosted by Milford High School. This year, over 1,000 pieces of high school art were entered, with just over 150 pieces being selected to move on to state judging from the region.

State judging is Saturday, March 12.

The HHS Art Department sends congratulations to these student artists and wishes them good luck at state judging.
