Area students participate in Envirothon

Local High School Students to Compete in State Envirothon
The Area 5 Soil and Water Conservation District held their Annual Envirothon on May 3  at Lake Vesuvius in Wayne National Forest. 
The competition focused on forestry, soils, wildlife, aquatics and environmental issues. The top four scoring teams from Area 5 are eligible to compete in the Ohio Envirothon and this year the Lynchburg Clay Mustang team successfully scored high enough to receive the honor of competing in the State contest at Bowling Green University on June 13-14.
A Practice Envirothon for both Highland and Brown County Envirothon teams was held on March 29, 2011 at Southern State College in Fincastle. Greenfield McClain David Fisher team ranked first in the practice competition and Greenfield McClain Brain Panthers team took home second place.
The following Highland County schools participated in this year’s Envirothon; Lynchburg Clay High School coached by Lara Hamilton, Greenfield McClain High School coached by Dennis Overstake and Whiteoak High School coached by Tina Roe.
