2023 Ayres-Van Frank Memorial Scholarships to be awarded by Highland County Republican Women's Club

The Highland County Republican Women's Club is offering five scholarships of $500 each to assist any Highland County high school senior planning to further their education upon graduation.
The scholarships are being awarded to honor the memory of two local well-known Republican women, Kay Ayres and Margaret Van Frank, both of whom are remembered for their contributions of service to the club and to the Republican party.
The non-renewable scholarships are open to any resident Highland County high school senior planning to attend a two- or four-year college, a trade or technical school or certificate program.
Students need at least a 2.5 GPA or better to apply. Political affiliation is not a consideration for the scholarship.
Applications are available at all county high school guidance counselor offices. Homeschooled students within the county may call HCRW scholarship committee chair, Sue Smith, at (937) 403-2294 to obtain an application.
The application deadline is Friday, March 24.
The application includes writing a short essay on the topic “Why do you feel it is important for your generation to exercise the right to vote?” and a telephone interview.
Scholarships will be awarded on April 18. Students are encouraged to contact their school's guidance counselor and apply.
