Connor Yochum to participate in Ohio State Dean’s Charity Steer Show

Connor Yochum, an eighth-grader at Hillsboro Middle School, is participating in the OSU Dean’s Charity Steer Show at the Ohio State Fair with his Hereford steer, “Joe Burrow.”  

Yochum is partnered with the morning team at NBC4 out of Columbus to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House. The event will be hosted by Cathann A. Kress, vice president and dean of The Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES). All proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. The Steer Show is coordinated by CFAES, Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, Telhio Credit Union, and the Ohio State Fair.

The fundraising campaign cumulates with a steer show at the State Fair on August 1, 2023, where the public is encouraged to come to cheer Yochum’s team on for the “Crowd Favorite.” At the show, the NBC4 morning show will show Yochum’s steer in a show event. Then, the team will go through a mock auction to raise final funds.
