HCS Board of Education to meet June 19
The Hillsboro City Schools Board of Education will meet in regular
session Monday, June 19 at 8 a.m. at the Board of Education Office, 39
Willettsville Pike.
The Finance Committee will meet in the Treasurer¹s Office, 39
Willettsville Pike, at 7 a.m. June 19.
The federal grant budget meeting will be 7:45 a.m. June 19 at the Board
Office.
HCNJFAD Board
to meet June 20
The Highland County North Joint Fire and Ambulance District Board of
Trustees' meeting will be held at 200 South St., Leesburg, on Tuesday, June

Peace Lutheran Church events
Peace Lutheran Church, located at 231 Harry Sauner Road in Hillsboro,
has announced the following upcoming summer events.
Weenie Wednesday free meal for everyone will be offered after the free
movie at Star Cinemas on Wednesdays.
The annual church rummage sale will be held Friday, June 16 from 9
a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, June 17 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The proceeds from the
sale will be divided among four local charities.
A combined church service will be held July 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul
Lutheran Church, 502 Pearl St., Lynchburg. The service will have a guest
preacher, the Rev. John Hitzeroth.
A new activity is planned for Sunday, July 23 starting at 3 p.m. on the
church property. It is "Fun in the Son," which will include games like disc
golf, corn hole and a fish pond for the kids. Ice cream and cookies will be
served with drinks. A vesper service will be held at Peace in the Woods on
the south side of the church parking lot in the evening. Please bring
folding chairs and bug and sun protection. In case of rain, the activities
will be held inside.

reunion June 24
The Hillsboro High School class of 1957 will hold a 66-year reunion
Saturday, June 24 at noon at 24 Deli and Pizza, 144 West Main St.,
Hillsboro.

Board of Elections
The Highland County Board of Elections would like to notify the public
of its weekly meetings, to be held every Tuesday at 8 a.m. in the board
office until further notice. The public is welcome to attend.
Democrat Party events
The Highland County Democrat Party will hold a ³rent a table² yard sale
Friday, June 30 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and Saturday, July 1 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
at their headquarters, 221 Chillicothe Ave., Hillsboro.
The event will be held rain or shine. The Party has a great space with
inside and outside areas. The cost to rent a table to sell your items is $30
for an eight-foot table and $25 for a six-foot table. To rent a table,
please send your name, email and phone number, along with a check, to Dinah
Phillips, 4420 Pleasant Road, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133. Payment is due by June
23.

• The Highland County Democratic Party is pleased to announce the
opening of its new headquarters at 221 Chillicothe Avenue, Hillsboro, across
the street from KFC. The party will hold an open house/ice cream social June
11 from 1-5 p.m. to mark the occasion. Light refreshments will also be
served.
3-on-3 basketball
tournament July 8
A 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held Saturday, July 8 during the
Festival of the Bells. Registration will be 9-9:30 a.m., and games will
start at 9:30 a.m.
Divisions, based on the grade you are entering, include:
• Elementary division (fourth and fifth grades);
• Middle school division (sixth, seventh and eighth grades); and
• High school division (ninth through 12th grades).
The cost is $20 per player/$80 per team (four players maximum). There
will be a boys and a girls bracket if enough teams sign up or a possibility
of brackets combining. All proceeds go to local sports programs. Games will
be played at the old city park (West North Street), near the old tennis
courts. The event is sponsored by Amatha Farrens State Farm Insurance.

Memorial Cookout
June 16 in Leesburg
The Leesburg Area Historical Society will host its third annual Judy
Mason Memorial Cookout on Friday, June 16 (rain date Saturday, June 17) from
5-8 p.m. at the Leesburg Depot. On the menu will be a freshly grilled
hamburger or hot dog, baked beans, slaw, chips, cookie and beverage. Dine at
the picnic tables or carry out. Donations toward the depot restoration will
once again be matched by the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial
Organization. Last year's event, along with a grant from the South Central
Power Foundation, allowed the Society to replace the roof of its historic
depot. This year, the goal is to stabilize the building's foundation, fix
site drainage issues and redo the brick boarding platform.
SATH's KAMP Dovetail
auction, carnival June 21
On Wednesday, June 21 at 7 p.m. SATH's KAMP Dovetail will host its 14th
annual auction and carnival at Rocky Fork State Park campground. The auction
is open to the public, and all are invited to attend. Bring your lawn chairs
and come out and enjoy an evening at KAMP Dovetail.
Community members are encouraged to make a donation of a craft, homemade
item or any other auction items to be sold at the Auction to help raise
additional funds for KAMP Dovetail.
Some of the campers will be donating items to be auctioned off. Sports
fans will be delighted with the sports memorabilia items available for sale.
Anyone with items to donate may drop them off at KAMP Dovetail anytime on
June 19, 20 or 21 before 6 p.m. All proceeds will be used to help with this

to meet June 20
The Hillsboro Zoning and Annexation Committee and the Planning
Commission will hold a joint meeting June 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the old
firehouse on Governor Trimble Place. The purpose of the meeting is to
discuss zoning map amendments.

Commission to meet June 27
The Hillsboro Records Commission will meet Tuesday, June 27 at 1 p.m. at
130 North High St. for their semi-annual meeting.
SOESC board
The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center Governing Board will have
its regular meeting Tuesday, June 20 at 7 p.m. at the Region 14/Hopewell
Office, 5350 W. New Market Road, Hillsboro. This is a change in date and

HUBA meetings
The Hillsboro Uptown Business Association (HUBA) is a 501(c)(3)
charitable organization with a mission statement of nurturing and assisting
the growth, improvement and expansion of both existing and new businesses
and services offered in the general uptown Hillsboro area, with a main focus
of bringing merchants into uptown Hillsboro. HUBA meetings are held at 8:30
a.m. at the Highland County Administration Building in the basement room.
The dates for the 2023 meetings are: July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 12, Oct. 10 and
Nov. 14. Anyone who has a business or is interested in starting a business
is welcome to join HUBA at a meeting.
Senior food donations
The Highland County Church of Christ is giving out senior food boxes on
the third Friday of each month. These are boxes of canned and shelf-stable
items, plus cheese. To qualify, you must be age 60 or older; submit an
income form (to be filled out one time); and pick up your food box between
11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the third Friday of each month at 6670 U.S. Route 50 West,
Hillsboro.

HCCAO Board meeting dates announced
The Highland County Community Action Organization Governing Board will
meet in 2023 on the following dates: June 27, July 25, Aug. 22, Sept. 26,
Oct. 24, Nov. 28 and Dec. 26.
Brushcreek Township
trustees' meetings
The Highland County Brushcreek Township Trustees will hold the 2023
meetings for the entire fiscal year on the first and third Thursday of each
month at 7 p.m. The meetings are open to the public and will be held at 7 N.
Chestnut Street, Sinking Spring 45172.
HDH Board meetings
The Highland District Hospital Board of Governors meetings for 2023 will
be held on the last Wednesday of each month, January-November, at 7 p.m. in
the Education Room at Highland District Hospital. Meeting schedules for

Hillsboro meetings
The City of Hillsboro has issued the following meeting schedule for
2023.
• City Council meets the Thursday after the second Monday of the month
at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Courtroom.
• The Planning Commission meets the third Monday of the month at 5:30
p.m. in the old firehouse on Governor Trimble Place.
• The Revolving Loan Fund committee has quarterly meetings scheduled for
the following dates: Aug. 16 and Nov. 15. Meetings are held at the City
Building at 10 a.m.
• The Community Improvement Corporation meets the second Wednesday of
the month at 9 a.m. at the City Building.
• Meetings for the Records Commission and Civil Service Commission are
TBA.
Changes in schedule or special meetings must be published a minimum of
24 hours prior to meeting time.
Reformers Unanimous
Reformers Unanimous offers Christian support for all types of addiction

Lynchburg Historical Society
The Lynchburg Historical Society will be open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-2
p.m. The Society is located at 151 S. Main Street near the police office.
New Life Church & Ministries
resumes food giveaway
New Life Church & Ministries, located at 6101 S.R. 247 in Hillsboro, has
resumed its weekly food giveaway. The food pantry will be offered every
Friday from 1-4 p.m. Individuals are asked to wait until after 10 a.m. at
the absolute earliest to get in line for the food giveaways.
St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hillsboro
will conduct outreach sessions on the second Saturday of each month at St.
Mary Parish Hall, 119 E. Walnut St. in Hillsboro from 10 a.m.-noon.
Volunteers will be available to meet with neighbors seeking assistance on a
first-come, first-serve basis. SVdP will no longer be holding the additional
outreach day at Samaritan Outreach each month. Please bring proof of income
