Christian Matthew Myers
Christian Matthew Myers, 36, of Mowrystown, formerly of Martinsville, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
He was born Oct. 30, 1986, in Wilmington, the son of Matthew Ivan Myers and Robin Michele (Randall) Myers.
Christian was raised in the Martinsville Church of Christ and, after high school, attended Johnson University in Knoxville, Tenn. At the age of 2, Christian went on his first mission trip to Grenada with family and at 13, to Jamaica on his own. From that point on, he had a passion to help those in need – participating in many mission trips. After the death of his brother, he enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle in and out of the country, having deep conversations with friends and strangers alike. His greatest missions, however, were to those he knew, loved and interacted with every day. Christian deeply loved his wife, parents, extended family, and friends and will be greatly missed.
Christian is survived by his wife, Mary Houk Myers, whom he married on April 28, 2023; his parents, Matt and Robin Myers; Mary’s children who he adored, Audrey, Harrison, Olivia, Carlee and Lynny; paternal grandfather, Pete Cochran; two nieces, Kendra Mullins and Zoey Myers; cousin, Morgan, whom he loved liked a sister; and numerous cousins, uncles, aunts and friends.
Christian was preceded in death by his brother, John-Mark Ivan Myers, on Aug. 3, 2015; and his adopted sister, Esperancia Myers.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at the Martinsville Church of Christ. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at the church. Burial will follow in the Martinsville IOOF Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Jimmy’s Ride, an organization very near and dear to Christian’s heart. This is an outreach initiated after the passing of Christian’s brother, John-Mark, that benefits grieving families. This year’s contributions will all benefit Christian’s wife, Mary, and her children. If you would like to donate to Jimmy’s Ride, you can do so by sending your donation to Matt Myers in care of Martinsville Church of Christ, 28 Main Street, Martinsville, Ohio 45146.
