Charles R. Kessinger

Charles R. Kessinger, 71, of Lynchburg, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023 at Highland District Hospital. 

Charles was born May 10, 1952 in Lynchburg, the son of Hershel and Irene (Quallen) Kessinger. 

Charles worked for Cincinnati Milacron where he retired after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Mt Olive Church of Christ where he was baptized and gave his life to the Lord. Charles enjoyed receiving calls and visits from friends, especially his former Milacron coworkers. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Marlene (Hester) Kessinger; three daughters, Charlene (Jeff) Bauer, Darlene Hart, and Lanette (Jim) Cooper; one sister, Karen (Anthony) Hawk, one brother-in-law, Russell “Sonny” Kilmer; three sisters-in-law, Betty Osborne, Ann Howard, and Linda Hughes; grandchildren, Chasidy (Rob) Davis, Sheena (Robert) Sams, Brittany (Steve) Alexander, Josh (Sydney) Bauer, Jimmy (Kara) Cooper, Chelsea Hart, and Destiny Hart; great grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, and Macy Davis, Zander Gosink, Maverick and Colton Alexander, Ayden Bauer, and Brookelynn Cooper; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jamie Kessinger; two sisters, Janet Kilmer and Joann Hurley; three brothers, Bobby Kessinger, John Kessinger and Ronnie Kessinger; as well as several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. 

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at Davis-Turner Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Troutwine Cemetery.
