Brown County Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal shooting

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that they are investigating a shooting death believed to be “a premeditated, targeted attack.”

On April 6 at approximately 5:35 a.m., the Brown County Dispatch Center received a report of a weapons discharge on Love Day Road. Deputies arrived on scene at approximately 5:38 a.m. and found a male subject, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head, lying on the ground in front of the residence.

The incident was determined to be a homicide. Investigators from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrived and processed the crime scene. No weapon was recovered at the crime scene.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has collected multiple items of evidence that have been submitted for laboratory testing. The investigation has led to the determination that this was a premeditated, targeted attack on the victim, identified as Shaun Koger, 46.
